My Three Year Heart Attack Anniversary – Celebrate With Me!

October 22nd, 2019 by Audrey Weidman

heart attack anniversary

It’s my anniversary. One I’m soooo happy to be having. Three years ago today, right about now, I had a heart attack and I didn’t even realize it!

I wanted to share what I know to be true …

Below are my thoughts, experiences and recommendations for you to take care of yourself.  True wellness starts with…

Think positive thoughts

  • Take care of yourself by cleaning up your mind.
  • Become aware of what you are thinking.
  • Remember to be kind to yourself.  You are your own best friend and friends don’t put each other down.
  • Don’t multi-task.  You’ll never be fully present and really appreciate the moment.
  • And for God’s sake – STOP comparing yourself!

Take care of your body

  • Eat quality food.  Forget the processed stuff that is all over the grocery store.  Invest in fresh produce – in fact try to make three fourths of your diet plant-based.  Start by eating one green salad a day and work up from there.
  • Work on creating really good gut health.  So much of who we are  – the building  blocks for our cells, our mood, and overall health – comes from our gut.

Sleep

  • Be sure to get at least 7 hours of quality sleep per night.
  • You might think you’d rather get more done and skip the sleep.  That’s a myth!
  • Your efficiency, memory and mood will go into the toilet without good sleep.

Create A Positive Environment

  • Surround yourself with good people.  Release the toxic ones.  If you haven’t found the good people yet, listen to audio books from inspirational leaders.
  • Be comfortable with being by yourself.  You are AWESOME.
  • Limit negative news.  CNN is constant negative news.  STOP IT!
  • Be kind to others and serve the greater good.  When you are nice, not only does the recipient feel good – you feel good too.
  • Be grateful.  Keep a journal and write down 3 things you are grateful for everyday.  Do this  for 30 days and you’ll be amazed and how much sweeter life will feel.
  • Appreciate the now.  Look for good and savor it.

Know Your Strengths and Use Them

  • We are all unique and each of us has our God-given talents
  • If you don’t know what your strengths are, ask your friends or family where you shine.  Or take a strengths assessment and then use those gifts.
  • Do what gives you JOY!  You will be in FLOW and loving life.

Relax

  • It’s OK to take a break.  It fact it’s good for you.
  • Take that walk. Enjoy that conversation.  Read that book.  Learn to dance.  Watch a funny video.  Get that massage.
  • Offset the stress.

Learn to Receive

  • Allow others to give to you.  You’ve done an excellent job of giving all these years.
  • For every giver, there needs to be a receiver.
  • It’s  your turn now.

These are a few of the lessons I’ve learned since I had my heart attack.  I will be covering these topics and more on my blog and on Facebook in the near future.   If you’re intrigued…
